Do. Not. Read. This. Book.
Full disclosure: I zipped through it because of the romance and the curiosity as to how things would unfold between Christian Gray and Anastasia Steele. In retrospect, there's no romance at all, just extremely offensive moves on Christian's part who is an insult to women everywhere - and the author of this book is a woman.
I could go on about my issues with this book's anti-feminism, bad writing, shallow characters, and more, but honestly, it's not worth my time. This was, however, a book-club book so if you're curious, you can read what I, along with several other girls, had to say about it along the way.

YES. For entertainment purposes, sure, the book kept me busy. But the writing was atrocious and repetitive. I read them all just because I had to finish the series, but if you're unlike me and don't feel the need to complete it, don't waste your time. I completely agree with what you said about how Christian treats women. It drives me crazy and no matter HOW attractive a guy was, that's no way that controlling chauvinist crap would fly with me. The fact that a woman wrote it, and seemed to condone it in many ways through Ana, is appalling. I don't know what all the hype was about.
